For Sylvania we came up with the idea of creating a timeline in the form of a leporello to mark the brand's 100th anniversary.
But what is it?
A Leporello is a type of book or brochure folded like an accordion, allowing several pages to be unfolded at once by stretching them out. This accordion fold takes its name from a character in a Mozart opera, Leporello, the valet in Don Giovanni, who keeps a list of his master's romantic conquests in the form of a long unrolling register.
Leporellos are often used in art and publishing to present series of images, portfolios, comic strips or projects requiring a continuous layout. They are popular for exhibitions and visual projects because they allow images to be displayed side by side, giving an overview.
